Peri & Menopause Eating 3 day Retreat
Learn the essentials of how your nutritional needs & metabolism changes as you become peri-menopausal and menopausal.
I'll explain the basics of estrogens, insulin sensitivity, bone density, and the changes in metabolism that can occur at this stage and what changes we might want to make to our diet to take account for this.
I'll give you tips on eating a whole-food diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and high quality protein as this may improve menopausal symptoms, and we will discuss the research based around time restricted eating, fasting, and the time of day and the order in which you eat carbohydrates and how this can impact weight.
Healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids and phytoestrogens may be beneficial, so we will discuss what these are, what food sources you find them in and their pros and cons.
We can increase essential nutrients like calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and vitamins D and K and I'll explain how you can most easily add these into your regular diet.
There will be morning and afternoon classes and I'll take the time to discuss with each of you your personal health, food preferences and health goals and advise you on ways you can aim to eat in a way that suits your stage of age of life and in a way that fits into your life.
I never confuse anecdotal information with evidence based data, however as someone who has gone through the menopause, and has had a hysterectomy, I can attest to the power of food to both harm and help at this stage of life and am passionate about helping people to get to grips with their own diets and work out what can positively impacts them, and what they need to look at changing.
